Thursday, October 8, 2020 – Eataly and Starbucks and Reserve and Michigan Ave. Fun-filled day of food and drink! Eataly is full of restaurants, food counters, retail areas, with high-quality Italian products at every turn. Starbucks Reserve is still NEW and the biggest of three in the US! Let’s take the day and explore them both and what Michigan Ave. has to offer. We will depart the Highcrest Centre parking lot at 8:00 am and return back to Rockford at about 6:00 pm. Mon. Oct. 19, 2020 – Monet and Chicago Exhibit – Art Institute. The first exhibition to explore Chicago’s pioneering connection to the “Father of Impressionism” brings together more than 65 paintings from the Art Institute’s holdings and esteemed Chicago-based collections, including beloved major works as well as rarely seen still lifes, figural scenes, seascapes, and landscapes. It will be fun! Cost is $80 per person; includes your ticket for general and special Monet exhibit. We depart at 8:30 am (entrance @ 11:00 am) and return back to Rockford about 6:00 pm.
Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020– Christmas Luncheon and Wurlitzer Concert at the Sanfilippo Estate in Barrington, Illinois. Get in the Holiday spirit as we begin with an elegant sit-down lunch in the Carousel Pavilion with a live Wurlitzer Theater Organ Concert in the very private Sanfilippo residence’s 300 seat theater, time to explore the collection of automatic music machines, including the special 1890 Eden Palais Carousel and the new perfume collection. Cost is $145 per person; includes your meal, a live concert and time to look at the estate’s antique music collection.
Wednesday, June 24, 2021 – Frida Kahlo – Timeless Exhibit Cleve Carney Museum of Art, Glen Ellyn, IL. We will see one of the largest private collections of original artwork by Frida Kahlo in a multifaceted exhibit. We see 26 original works on loan from Museo Dolores Olmedo, over 100 photographs from her life, including a historical timeline, with a poetry garden designed by Ball Horticultural Company. Kahlo explained that she “painted her reality”, this exhibition hopes to provide insight into that reality while allowing the viewer intimate access to her world. Details soon!
